In this virtual workshop and class taught by Elizabeth Gust, Doctor of Physical Therapy, you will learn key concepts behind the experience of pain and its effect on the mind, body and spirit. We will incorporate yoga postures, movement techniques, breath work and mindfulness practices to support a healthy pain response.
The nervous system is complex and has great influence over our pain experience. Understanding the anatomy and physiology behind basic pain science can empower our management of the aches and pains we all experience.
If you experience any of the following, this series is for you:
- aches and pains that come and go
- high stress levels in response to discomfort
- avoidance or over-doing in response to pain
- curiosity on how our bodies generate pain
- curiosity on the healing processes our tissues go through
This class is not for you if:
- you have an acute / sudden injury that has not been evaluated by a physician, physical therapist or other provider
- constant, high-grade pain that limits your mobility, activity and function and has an unknown cause
This class is not intended to treat, diagnose or cure any ailments and is not considered a replacement for individualized care by a licensed provider. Please inquire if you are unsure if this class is appropriate for you to participate.
