4-Week Series

Taught by Chris Federman

Everyone experiences headaches from time to time. However, when they become frequent or even chronic, they are debilitating and extremely disruptive to our lives. Migraine headaches are far more intense with throbbing, pulsing, often nausea/vomiting with heightened sensitivity to sound, light, and odors. Migraines take us out of our everyday life and send us to a dark, quiet room for hours or even days. All headaches- migraines, tension, or hormonal, rob us of our daily lives. All layers of our being are affected. Headaches ‘live’ in our head where 4 of our 5 senses reside. They affect everything about how we experience and respond to the world. They truly shut us down. This series looks at all the tools available to treat all 5 Koshas:  Physical, mental, energetic, intuitive/wisdom, and your joyful self.

Yoga can help relieve and prevent headaches and migraines by:

  •  practicing asana and pranayama that balance the endocrine and nervous system

  • using asana that moves the head in gentle ways that keeps blood flow healthy in and around the head preventing dilation and constriction of blood vessels

  • decreasing stress and cultivating resilience

  • improving structural alignment

  • releasing myofascial tension and improving healthy blood flow to target tissues

This series is for you if you:

  • experience regular headaches from mild to severe

  • suffer from migraines and want to stop feeling robbed of time

I AM CHRIS FEDERMAN.

Hi I’m Chris. I am privileged to be a yoga teacher and yoga therapist. I retired, after 24 years, in 2015 from a very busy OB/GYN practice. During my career, I completed my first yoga teacher training.  Currently, I have completed two 500-hour teacher trainings and I am a certified yoga therapist with IAYT.

After retirement I was able to really dive more deeply into practice, study, and teaching of yoga. Although I consider myself a yoga teacher, I will never stop being a student.

I love being able to continue helping others but in a totally different, yet powerful way. My background allows me to combine modern research and ancient practices to educate and to improve the health and well-being of others. This is especially true around the practice of Pranayama and cultivating a healthy breathing life-style.

I have decades of experience combining Western medicine and Eastern practices and I am excited to share that knowledge with you. I  am committed to weaving together these 2 vast fields of knowledge so that they are accessible to everyone and of benefit to those in need.

As a long -time migraine sufferer, I have spent many hours researching both western medicine and the tools of yoga therapy so I can genuinely create an experience that helps me and can be of benefit to others who suffer from migraines and chronic headaches. This series is a collection of practices , pranayama, and techniques I have found helpful.
